The Bureau of Agricultural Economics forecasts total rural production this year at £1,495 million, a 9 percent rise from 1961-62. It expects an £127 million increase in gross rural output from the prior year, while rural exports may fall about 6 percent below the previous record year.
A government review projects stable prices for 1962 63 and a record gross value for rural exports led by stronger meat and dairy sales. Wheat barley and sugar exports face declines but beef veal mutton and lamb volumes rise with price gains boosting overall export value.
New South Wales Garena approved a 20000 pound grant to the Kosciuszko Park Trust for cement work at Warrango lly Caves. A Trust spokesman said the best possible use would be general renovation of the camping area and a detailed plan was under way.

Australia will fund two Colombo Plan gifts to Burma totaling £890,000. Training for 30 Burmese mechanics in Australia is included to maintain the fleet. The pumps will supplement 600 pumps already provided, aiding year round cultivation of Burma's delta rivers.

Sydney police widen inquiries into the death of 12 year old Monica Schofield. Detectives study lines of investigation including an identikit from witness descriptions and a circulated image of rope and dress fabric found near the Hammondville scene. The body was buried in a shallow grave off Heathcote Road after she vanished on her way to school.
In Lagos on Thursday the Chief Anthony Enahoro trial resumed with a four hour defence cross examination of a Western Nigeria minister called by the prosecution.
In Canberra a charge was dismissed against Nick Zamalis for parking a motor vehicle on the footpath in Alinga Street. The court noted no provision in the Motor Traffic Ordinance to cover footpath parking and suggested Crown Law inform authorities. The case referenced a broader issue of footpath use by motorists.
Defense for Zamalis argues the quoted Motor Traffic Ordinance was repealed and not aligned with the ACT. He notes the new ordinance lacks a footpath definition and could misclassify infringing behavior. Judge Meagher supports the objection and urges inserting footpath definitions and informing Crown Law authorities.
