Earthmoving equipment began moving a sandbank in the Molonglo River to improve flow. Sand will be stockpiled for future use by the Department of Works as bulldozers push back the bank in the scene.
The Bega Co-Operative Society Ltd reverses policy to enter retail milk distribution with a zoning plan. Mr. Mertin says vendors may deliver both brands to cover large areas while maintaining exclusive sales for Bega milk in some zones.
The Arts Council of the ACT presents its first one man exhibition by Australian painter David Strachan at the Bible House Civic. Opened by Professor P Herbst, the artist born 1919 in Salisbury England studied at Slade London and worked with George Bell in Melbourne. Strachan lived in Europe 1947 to recently, with shows in London Paris and UNESCO Paris Exposition. His Hill End landscape won the Wynne Prize 1961 and is in the National Gallery of NSW.
