Firmer Policy On Tax Debts Adoption by Taxation Department
The Taxation Department has tightened its policy on tax arrears with fewer extensions. Tax officials, led by Commissioner J B O Sullivan, say prompt payment is the aim as arrears rose to 52 million by 1959 and 059 million the following year. Collections show individuals and companies paid about the same share as last year, with a budgeted extra 106 million this year to hit a 777 million target.
