Super-Penicillin Soon On Market In Britain
Britain and the United States will soon see new cephalosporin based antibiotics, developed since 1955 to treat infections resistant to penicillin. Eli Lilly and Glaxo Laboratories said the drug would be less toxic and suitable for penicillin allergic patients, with FDA licensing sought. Researchers led by Sir Howard Florey started in Oxford and funding came from the British Medical Research Council.
