Signals From Russian Moon Rocket Heard In Adelaide

In Adelaide two amateur radio enthusiasts reported receiving signals from the Russian moon rocket this morning. G M Bowen of the Wireless Institute of Australia noted signals around 9 am on 19 997 megacycles consisting of two pitched whistles. B W Wehr of Prospect heard intermittent signals after 8 am described as an interrupted whistling noise varying in pitch. A Weapons Research Establishment spokesman said efforts at Woomera to receive signals were unsuccessful. The Baker Nunn sky camera was trained on the rocket's course last night but film review showed no photograph of the object.

Not Seen at Mt Stromlo Moon Rocket Photo Attempt

Clowny congruens of Saturday night stopped a vacation scholar at Mt Stromlo Observatory from photographing the Soviet T Moon rocket's path. Brian Horton tried to take the shot at 12 30 but said the moon would be too bright for another attempt.
