Indonesian officials say talks with the Dutch could resume at any moment, depending on a favorable political climate. Subandrio’s Australia trip is viewed as pivotal for Indonesian relations with Australia and West New Guinea policy, with fears of a Communist push if results are poor.
An African boycott of the Queen Mother's tour of Kenya collapsed after a huge welcome in Nairobi. Dr Gikonyo Kiano said the move ended as thousands greeted the Queen Mother in the capital. Reuters noted she would spend the day quietly with no engagements until the evening.
