SYDNEY, Sunday. Nine people died on NSW roads over the Christmas holiday period, but police pleas for safe driving were heeded by most motorists.
Forty people were hospitalized with gastro enteritis after attending two Hawthorn Christmas parties. Health officials say illness forced intravenous feeding for some and the firm involved shut down temporarily during investigations. Weekend road tolls were lower with two fatalities and police reported numerous offenses during the period.
A damaged Christmas road toll reports eleven deaths on historian roads and seaside incidents across Melbourne Adelaide and Hobart.
