Porter and wife on trial over baby death
The court heard testimony that Porter admitted giving the infant a sip of poison and later attempted to harm himself and the baby. Porter and his wife had a troubled marriage with threats and estrangement cited. A witness described Porter’s agitation after the wife said she did not want the child and left for Molonglo. Corroborating evidence showed the baby died after medical treatment. The case adjourned overnight.
