In Sydney Friday the Meat Industry Amendment Bill was defeated in the Legislative Council after a long debate. Justice Lowe in the Criminal Court sentenced Ernest Kitchener Jenkins 16 a farmhand and Bernard William Boyd 18 a clerk to seven years imprisonment for the man slaughter of Joseph George Bydley 46 at Whittlesea on October 18. The jury acquitted the youths of murder. Sydney the Whittlesea Hotel manager was shot dead with blame placed on both youths.
The Ways and Means Committee ordered two bills today. One to legalize the manufacture and sale of 3.2 percent beer and another to legalize the manufacture and sale of wines with nonlimited alcohol content.
