A threatened national stoppage by building workers was called off in Melbourne today by N L Gallagher, federal secretary of the Australian Building and Construction Workers Federation. The union ended the plan after two South Australian officials, J L Robinson and R Owens, were released from Adelaide Jail. They had purged their contempt after a nine day confinement for disobeying Justice Hogarth’s injunction against interfering with Adriatic Terrazzo and Foundation Pty Ltd. A black ban was placed on the Adelaide company and the South Australian Housing Industry Association. the ban would extend to equivalents in other states if injunctions were not lifted. Builders' labourers in South Australia will resume work tomorrow morning.
