Hijackers killed in mid air battle on Ethiopian flight
Ethopian Airlines Boeing 707 carrying nine passengers and crew faced a deadly hijacking. seven hijackers were killed, one wounded, and seven passengers plus two flight attendants injured by grenade shrapnel. A passenger, Mr Roderick Hilsinger, helped avert disaster by tossing the grenade into an empty seat area, allowing the plane to land safely at Addis Ababa. Security guards opened fire as the hijackers attempted to reach the cockpit. the pilot regained control amid smoke and damage.
