Sixth oil strike at Moonie field reported

The Moonie field in South West Queensland confirms its sixth strike in six wells. No. 6 on 7 497 ft shows 1 660 barrels daily with 46 gravity oil and about 100 000 cubic feet of gas daily. Moonie No 7 is to spud next week as pipeline prospects loom.

King and Queen of Thailand welcomed in Canberra

More than 5,000 cheering residents greeted King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit at the R.A.A.F. base yesterday as they arrived in Canberra for an 18 day Australian tour. About 7,000 lined the royal procession route to Government House from the airport. The king and queen arrived from New Zealand aboard a jetliner.
