London reports a gang responsible for Britain’s biggest train robbery, with rewards totaling 260000 pounds offered for information leading to arrests. Banks face estimated losses around 2.501 million pounds as detectives and police mount a wide manhunt.
Robbers seized 120 bags of registered mail on a Glasgow to London mail train at Cheddington. Driver Jack Mills was concussed. Scotland Yard led a massive manhunt while losses from major banks were tallied and compensation for lost registered packages capped at twenty pounds.
