Hauliers Push for Decimal Weight System Adoption
Australia should adopt a decimal weight system to simplify freight calculations and align with the United States Canada and South Africa. Secretary R J Graves of the Australian Road Transport Federation said the 14 lb stone and 281b quarter would become 14 and 281b fractions under a 100 lb hundredweight and 2000 lb ton, easing conversion costs and complementing currency decimalisation.
