By Thursday noon about 7500 bales of the new crop had been ginned in Cameron. With a forecast of a sixteen million bale crop a one cent price decline is reported, costing county farmers about $509000 or $5 per bale. The cotton is fine, clean and rain or wind damage has been absent.
A Cameron editorial urges business leaders to attend regular Commercial Club meetings, craft a strong program, and back a paid secretary. It warns against overreliance on cotton, calls for diversified farming, industrial development, and bank support to finance non cotton crops and new industries.
Women of the Christian church this week finalize plans to publish a cooking book. Cameron merchants have subscribed generously and most local firms will carry advertisements. Receipts from area housewives are sought to support the project. The cookbook is expected to be among the best published in Cameron and beyond.
Mr Batte and associates discuss seed trade as a plan to trade cotton seed pound for pound at his gin. Farmers bringing cotton can obtain high grade seed with promise of better yields, aiming to offset lower prices with increased production this year in Miami County.
Jodh Speen Brothers purchase the Averiett Grocery from Ponce DY 1714 Jodh. The STORE will continue selling goods as long as practical as the building is vacated soon. Prices offered on goods will be of interest to local shoppers.
Mrs Williams Rogers and Miss Eloise Rogers returned Friday afternoon from Greenville where they visited Burleson College.

The suggested route includes Montreal to Niagara Falls to Paris with visits to Montmartre Opera House Fontainbleau Versailles and Rhine Valley sights. Cornelson orchestra will play the dance at Wayside Inn Friday night October first. The group is among the oldest and best in Texas and Cammer plans to bring them for Cameron and surrounding territory. Next Friday the Minnesota Red Caps will play there. J. D. Lewis and his orchestra also perform regularly at Wayside Inn.
W CG Gillis county Red Cross chairman asks Cameron residents to donate to the Florida storm relief through Judge Gillis. He cites national and state appeals and notes the chapter’s wartime service and ongoing emergency response.
Cameron firemen held a banquet praising Chief Menta Thomas for years of service and the department's unselfish work for the city. About 35 members attended with Jack Lewis and B. Stocomb among the guests. a fried chicken meal with potato salad tomatoes lettuce coffee Budweiser and light bread was served.
In district court six defendants named Allen Rim and Watkins receive terms for burglary. Oscar Allen and Charlie Allen each get two year terms for burglary. Albert Rim faces two years for burglary along with felony theft. Nayman Pressley receives a two year suspended sentence for burglary. Marvin Strader is given one year for manufacturing in intoxicating liquor.
On Monday night September 27 the Commercial Club will hold its semiannual election of officers and directors. Members are invited by mail and through post cards to share suggestions for the coming year, with street paving and a new hotel among top priorities. Some call for a full time secretary and the outcome is seen as pivotal for the club’s future.
Milam County faces a cotton harvest delay as a labor shortage reduces available pickers. Officials estimate at least 30,000 bales remain open in fields with insufficient workers, forcing many farmers to rely on family labor. Mexican labor has partly offset the shortage, while declining prices press farm income. Fireflies inoculated with adrenaline glow continuously for 24 hours, as adrenaline sustains muscle contraction and oxygen delivery to photogenic cells.
