Aboriginal Camp Site Found in Clay County Mississippi
Archaeologists from Mississippi State University led by Richard Marshall discover eight skeletal remains at a north Starkville area site in Clay County. The camp shows 3000 years of occupation with Marksville period pottery and trade links to lower Mississippi Valley tribes. The site sits on a higher, rarely flooded knoll used as a collecting station for hunt bands.
