Burlington Parish Set to Host September 25 Supper

The Annual Burlington barbecue, a Milam County attraction, will be held September 25 at Burlington Hall. Rev. T. F. O'Sullivan announced the event with Raymond Stock as chair, and committee members Henry Litzman and Joe Gieser. A parade at 11:30 a.m. precedes lunch at 12:30 with chicken and sausage on the menu. Supper is served at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment and a keynote address by a state official.

Milam County Births Reported In State Vital Statistics

Milam County detailed births and deaths from the State Health bulletin show 454 births with 153 midwife attended and 2 unattended. Of 609 counted as race, 299 were male and 310 female with 100 hospital births and 50 home births. The county's infant mortality rate is 46.0 per 1000 live births and two mothers died in childbirth at a rate of 52.8 per 10 000 live births.

Rotary Governor Visits in Cameron

Francis Dunn of Port Arthur, governor of District No. 130, spoke to Cameron Rotary at a Wednesday gathering. He led a club assembly at the Chamber of Commerce and a noon luncheon on Rotary principals. The club plans Rockdale expansion, student awards, and work for boys and crippled children. An Inner-city Houston Rotary committee will visit Cameron in October.

Sutton Loans Now Available to Farmers in Cameron Texas

Government loans on 1938 cotton are now available through Cameron Compress and other Texas bonded warehouses. The program offers 8.30 cents per pound for seven eights inch middling cotton to carry out the plan, with terms for cooperating and non cooperating farmers and penalties for excess production. Cameron Compress Company, led by P. W. Davis, is among the first to announce readiness and support for farmers.

Bishop Clennon St. Quinn of the Diocese of Texas will preach Sunday morning at All Saints Episcopal Church before traveling from Cameron to A and M College to dedicate the new chapel.
