City Plans Street Topping Program and Financing
The city aims to start a street topping program with a contract to be let soon if the mayor and finance committee secure borrowing. The project totals about 150 blocks of paving at a cost near 15 000 dollars, with property owners paying one third each and individuals capped at 22.50. The city seeks Cameron banks to provide the funds repaid from current revenues, no bonds or warrants needed. The topping uses 90 percent asphalt with lime rock for a durable two course layer.
