Cleve McCall 81 Buried in Cameron After Long Illness

Cleve McCall 81 a Yarrellton resident died Sunday night after a long illness. He was a retired farmer and rancher, formerly with the Texas Pure Food and Drug Department. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Green's Funeral Home Cameron with Masonic graveside rites. He leaves two brothers Duncan of Sedna and Dewey of Yarrellton and six nieces.

Car hits tree injures driver Ramirez in Newton

Ramiro Ramirez a 19 year old from 805 N Crockett was hospitalized after his 1957 Chevrolet struck a large tree in front of the W J Mueck home at 901 North Central Street about 12 50 p m Tuesday. He was taken to Newton Hospital with a head injury and possible internal injuries. Police Chief John Shearin announced promotions and city dogcatcher delays and cited that dogs found roaming will be held three days then destroyed if unclaimed.

Farmers Union to Elect Directors at County Convention

Milam County Farmers Union holds its annual convention on Saturday November 1 at Simon George Hall. A chili supper starts at 6 50 p m with David Samuelson district 9 director as guest speaker. Members will elect officers board directors delegates to the state convention in Abilene and vote on resolutions.

HUD Reps To Meet Renewal Directors In Cameron

HUD Fort Worth officials will meet Cameron Urban Renewal Agency leaders on Thursday at 10 a.m. to review the downtown modernization project. Area Banks See Growth in Deposits and Livestock Market Steady

Area banks report rising deposits while the livestock market steadies after a mid summer peak. Wally Eldred of Cameron Livestock Auction Co says stocker cattle especially cows and calves look better than in a long time. Prices for cow and calf pairs run 715 to 250, hogs bring 24 to 25.70, and slaughter cattle prices trend lower due to West Texas feed supplies. Inflation and rising input costs keep meat prices high relative to take home pay since 1951, with a 3 cent rise per pound in October 1659 versus 1987 and grocery round stock up 20 cents per pound.

Local Banks Report $1.8 Million Rise in Deposits

statewide call shows increases in deposits at Cameron and Area banks over last year. First National led gains with $8,899,164.21 as of Oct 21, 1969, while Rockdale State Bank rose to $10,404,712.99 and Rosebud banks totaled $1,336,442.74 across several institutions.

Ex-Area Resident Dies In Oklahoma

J. Shannon, 69, born in the Friendship Community in 1900, died Sunday in Duncan Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife three daughters one son three brothers and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sanford Funeral Home Duncan. Burial followed in Duncan Cemetery.
