Allotments For Cotton Farmers To Be Set Soon
Milam County farmers will learn upland cotton acreage allotments for 1960 as the County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee sets two choices for each farm contingent on a two thirds referendum approval. Choice A offers a regular allotment with at least 75 percent parity support. Choice B increases the allotment by 40 percent with at least 60 percent parity. If quotas fail, only regular allotments apply with 50 percent parity support. The county share is divided among farms based on 1957 to 1959 planted areas and reserves for new farms. Old farms receive a minimum of 10 acres or the 1958 allotment.
