Proposed Acreage Quota Would Mean 17 000 Acre Cotton Cut in Milam County
Milam county would lose about 17 thousand acres of cotton if a 20 percent acreage cut for 1950 crops takes effect. Alva E. Sanders, director of the government farm service, estimates Milam grew around 85 thousand cotton acres in 1949, a figure seen as substantially correct. The 17 thousand acres would need profitable alternatives for next year.
