New Film Rating System Launched To Guide Parents
The Motion Pictures Association of America announces a voluntary rating system to cover movies released after November 1. MPAA chief Jack Valenti says the program centers on protecting children and informs parents to use rating symbols for decisions about their children's moviegoing. The Code and Rating Administration will oversee ratings with the Production Code, with G, M, R, and X categories and age restrictions varying by area.
