Funeral services held for Franz Shafer in Gause

Funeral services for Franz Shafer 61 of Gause were conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Gause Baptist Church with Rev. H C Wells officiating. Burial followed in Tin Oak Cemetery. Shafer, born April 2, 1903 in Milam County, was a lifelong farmer and rancher in Hanover and Gause. He died Thursday morning in Houston after a long illness. Survivors include his widow, one son Watson Hubert Shafer of Franklin, a daughter Mrs. Elaine Ryan of Cameron, two brothers Homer Shafer of Humble and Shack Shafer of Gause, three sisters Mrs. Earl Avgell of Caron, Mrs. Grace Stevens of Gause, Mrs. Rene Biskeney of Kermit, and three grandchildren.

Robert K. Taylor, longtime public relations aide at Alena's Rockdale Works, is named public relations manager for the Aluminum Company of America Cleveland Works in Ohio. A Rockdale resident and Texas Christian University graduate, he previously worked at Point Comfort Operations since 1966 and served as a Fort Worth Star Telegram reporter. Registration Monday For New Boy Scout Troop At Milano

A meeting to organize a Boy Scout troop in Milano is set for Monday October 20 at 7 pm in the Milano High School Vocations Agricultural Building. Rev Herb Thompson will serve as scoutmaster. Boys ages 11 to 14 may enroll with a $1 registration. Parents should attend to learn how to support their sons in scouting. Enrollment at Temple Junior College for the 44th fall semester shows 1,169 students with 61 male and 48% female students. Community visits were made to the Gandy home in Temple.

Frank Shafer 61 died Thursday in a Newton hospital after a line miss. He was born April 21 in Milam County and lived as a farmer and rancher in the Han over Gause community. Funeral 3 p.m. Friday at Goose Bat Church with H C Wells officiating. Burial in Pin Oak Cemetery. Survived by wife, son, daughter, two brothers, three sisters, and three grandchildren. Nellie L. Henson of Rosebud, 70, died in a Rosebud hospital at 8 30 p m Wednesday October 8 after a long illness. Born in Mardinsonville in 1809, she lived in Rosebud most of her life. She was a farmer and rancher and a member of First Baptist Church of Rosebud. Funeral services were held at 4 p m Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev A R Fuller and Rev R L Brown officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, a son Charles W Henson of Rosebud, three daughters, two brothers, two sisters and seven grandchildren. Home funeral home in Rosebud was in charge.

Rov Edwards, formerly of Cameron, was killed in a truck crash Saturday in Ashland Oregon while employed by a San Angelo trucking firm. Tejas District Boy Scouts Camporee Moves to Camp Tahuaya

The Tejas District Camporee of the Boy Scouts of America will be held Friday to Sunday at Camp Tahuaya south of Kelton, after rain required relocation from Dan Steakley farm near Rogers. Scouts from Tejas and Chisholm Trail districts arrive Friday at 4 pm for open fire cooking, football games, Saturday activities, and a police equipment demonstration by Capt. Keifer of Temple Police. Religious services are planned for Sunday at 8 am, with observers welcome Saturday.
