Buckholts Texas October 13 1915. The public school opens with strong faculty under J O Hughs. The article argues prosperity comes from crop diversification not overreliance on cotton. It cites farmers feeding families selling surplus, lowering debts, and improving living standards, urging continued diversification to weather future markets.
A large crowd gathers on the school grounds for the patrons party organized by the superintendent and committee. The Cameron History Club met with Mrs. W. O. Triggs Tuesday afternoon. Constitution and Bylaws were read for new members. Miss Ertelle West Moreland was elected to membership. The study of Texas History under Miss Julia Williams continued focusing on the Colonization Period 1820 to 1830.
Henne & Meyer Hardware Company in Cameron welcomes H A Janicek formerly with Hefley Hardware and now residing near Buckholts. He is a popular Cameron salesman and his return adds prestige to the firm as they expand with furniture stock recently added to their large hardware inventory.
The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church met Monday at 3 p.m. to discuss the upcoming Friday evening trip around the world. The annual progressive party proceeds support the society's funds and features novel entertainment planned by members.
Marlin defeated Cameron 19 to 6 at the Marlin Fairgrounds last Saturday at 2 30 p m. The Cameron standout was fullback Lawless Green who scored the feature touchdown. Miss Lucile Clement of Avetin is visiting friends in the city.
