Five Indictments Returned by Milam County Grand Jury

Five indictments were returned by the Milam County Grand Jury against three men. Frank Thompson now at Hico was indicted on conversion by bailee. Jim McCormick and Jack Turner of Hamilton Chapel were indicted on burglary and theft in two cases each. Trials set for Monday October 8.

Hays Details Tax on Football Admissions and Speaker System

J R Hays president of the Athletic Council explained a new federal tax on football admissions starting October 1. Adults pay 50 cents per ticket plus tax, students 8 cents, and season tickets taxable for both adults and students. The council will absorb the tax, with profits from advertising to the council. The public address system will charge 1.50 for 30 words plus extra per word, and advertising is open to all but liquor and beer dealers.

Harmon of Michigan Football Preview to Open Milam Theater

In Cameron the Milam Theatre opens Friday night with a screening of Harmon of Michigan starring Tom Harmon.
