A Burlington delegation reports the November 26 1939 re dedication of a roadside welcome sign to Milam County W A Bill Morrison DA after it had been buried in a ditch during Halloween pranks. The notice warns locals that spirits will only play pranks on those who can take it.
The Cameron City Council Milam County Texas will meet December 5 1989 to decide bids for constructing a swimming pool with equipment including a water filter plant under Works Progress Administration terms. The city may issue serial time warrants up to six years at four percent interest to pay contractors and suppliers.
The city of Cameron Texas plans to issue warrants and levy an annual tax on all taxable property to pay interest and fund a sinking fund. Bids may be accepted or rejected at the meeting or adjourned session. The city may not let contracts for parts of the project. Witness signatures dated November 13 1939. Also Leo O Neill underwent emergency appendectomy and is reportedly recovering well.
A local health official warns cholera risk among hogs in Milam County and confirms meat and sausage sold in Cameron must be inspected under city ordinances. Rural hog producers are urged to contact authorities to arrange inspections before slaughter to protect public health.
Cameron attorney M G Gox received a letter from United States Senator Tom Connally saying he cannot accept the invitation to attend the Rotary Club annual Cameron Firemen banquet on December 20. Connally will visit Cameron at a future date to address the club.
Judge J Felton Lane a Hearne attorney and former Hearne Democrat editor paid a business visit to Cameron on Monday and met many old friends from his District Attorney days. Miss Gertrude Burnstyne spent Sunday in Austin visiting two sisters and a brother.
Mr and Mrs T A Gilbert of Brenham were recent guests of Mr and Mrs Frank Reid.
Mrs. Ed F. Hunter and her two sons Fenemore and Berkley Hunter of San Antonio spent the weekend with her sister Mrs. India Stidham. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Stone and their son of Taft will be Thanksgiving guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Manning.
