Milam to Get 11.1 Mile Farm to Market Road
Texas Highway Commission plans a two year Farm-to-Market Road program funded by federal and state dollars. A new 11.1 mile road from State Highway 36 near Cameron Northwest to FM 485 at Yarrelton is approved for development. Milam County must provide 100 foot right of way free of cost. project cost is about 300000 dollars due to Elm Creek crossing. Judge Charles C. Smith Jr notes this is Milam’s largest farm to market project.

Fire destroys home of Rev Lee Young in Cameron
The eight room residence of Rev and Mrs Lee Young at West 12th Street Cameron burned about 7 30 Wednesday morning. Rev Young 70 said the fire started from a wood stove attic caught. A visitor Mary Smith Caldwell burned hand and foot trying to aid Mrs Young. No other injuries. Young is a farmer and evangelist former Progressive Baptist pastor with recent mission at Brokshire Texas.
