Cameron reports a 33 degree low Tuesday morning with a cold snap easing by Wednesday. The Herald notes mixed rain and temperatures in the 40s and 50s through the week, with potential rain and east winds affecting holiday fans.
Nov 21 in Rockdale two people, Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Lynch of Palestine, died in a collision with a cedar post loaded truck on Highway 79 two miles east of Thorndale. Cooger Blackmon of Milano, driver of the truck, said the car skidded into him as it drizzled. The car’s motor was thrown about 30 feet. The Lynch bodies were removed to Phillip and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. A son, Robert Lynch Jr., of Kingsville, was notified. Mr. Lynch was 57, his wife 47. A Missouri Pacific railroad conductor’s card was found on Mr. Lynch.
Milam county residents in Marak hosted a Friday night session with the Commissioners Court and a Chamber of Commerce delegation. The gathering at the Marak school underscored decades of isolation due to poor roads and urged a comprehensive system linking Marak to Cameron and Elm Ridge with state highway support. Cameron businessmen voiced strong backing and anticipated future action from the State Highway Department.
Two new operator positions will start November 29 at Cameron central office to boost service and expand capacity. The move allows better call handling, supports growth for about 400 more telephones, and comes as Cameron’s telephone count rose 60 percent since 1940 to 1,212 in service.

Fredricksburg, runner up in 32-A District, defeated Mason 27 to 13. Burnet leads by a half game and must beat Llano Wednesday to secure the district title. A Burnet win or tie affects Fredricksburg's final standing and the district outcome remains unsettled after Wednesday’s results.
Mrs. S Stephenson is visiting her daughter Mrs T J Faver during a brief regional trip.
Sheriff reports an attempted Sunday night robbery at the Maysfield Mercantile Co. in Maysfield. A front window and frame were smashed and blood found inside suggests injuries. store not entered. Fingerprint experts were en route to the Cameron scene for examination.
Central Texas Poultry Show held November 21 and 22 proved a big success despite bad weather. Bill Arthur chaired the agriculture committee and directed the event. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, it was staged in the vocational school building on the old grammar school campus. the weekly Herald will publish the full prize list next week due to length.
Cameron kicks off its Christmas season Thursday December 4 with a Santa Claus visit a large parade and free gifts for children. The Yee High School Band leads the parade and provides music for a on site program as a huge tree lights the courthouse lawn. Fire engine parade vehicle and street crowd control planned with city and organizational cooperation. Thousands expected as parades return after wartime suspension.
A. J. Mondrik’s Food Store in Santa Fe is set to reopen on Wednesday, November 26 after a damaging fire. The renovated market features a new refrigeration unit, two freezing cases, neon department signs, and a white interior. A weeklong sale precedes a grand reopening with extended weekend hours after Thanksgiving.
The Young Men's Business League of Rockdale will stage a big Christmas Opening with a 3:30 p m cash and merchandise drop from an airplane by Santa Claus. Cash prizes total 140 dollars, with certificates redeemable at Rockdale stores, plus a 5 p m band concert, carols, kiddie candy, and holiday store displays.
