Range Fires Threaten Texas Statewide Hazard This Fall
Range fires pose a serious threat across Texas as fallen vegetation and fall drying weather heighten fire danger. Texas Agricultural Extension Service ranger Dr. Bobby J. Ragsdale warns that massed foliage from a wet summer fuels fires and urges public vigilance and rural fire control plans. He notes fires affect woodlands and range lands, threaten forage, soil, livestock, and wildlife, and that prevention hinges on responsible campfire management and rapid local response.
