Cameron Yeomen, District 23 AA champions, meet Gonzales Apaches, District 24 AA winners, at Yee High Athletic Field Friday night November 23. Game time 8:00. Glenn Rosenberg returns from injury to bolster Cameron. Gonzales outweighs Cameron in backfield and line. fans expect a thriller as Sportwriters favor Gonzales. A large Central Texas crowd and a Gonzales special train are anticipated.

Christmas Parade Planned by Cameron Groups

Cameron committees including the Business and Professional Women Club the Chamber of Commerce and the Junior Chamber of Commerce are finalizing plans for the annual Christmas Parade and program on Monday December 3. Santa will arrive at 6 30 P M on a fire truck distribute candy and souvenirs. Yee High School band and local groups prepare floats and a post parade Christmas program at City Park features a manger scene and carols led by Mrs Mark Magers.

Cameron Civic Garden Club to Stage Third Christmas Show

The Cameron Civic Garden Club announces its third annual Christmas Show on December 8 and 9 from 3 to 8 PM and 2 to 5 PM at the building beside Hornung Bros on West Main Street. Entries come from club members or their children and proceeds go to McClosky Hospital.

Col Williams Celebrates 109th Birthday Civil War Veteran

Col Walter W Williams the oldest Texas Civil War veteran marked his 109th birthday on Sunday November 18 at his ranch 14 miles south of Franklin. A barbecue dinner drew his wife and 125 direct descendants to the event. He and his wife live solo on the ranch where they raise cattle and turkeys. He is grandfather to Mrs Gene Blake of Cameron.

Final Rites Scheduled Sunday For Mrs. George A. Thomas

Mrs. George A. Thomas 92 of Cameron died November 16 1951 at her home on East 23rd Street after months of illness. She was widow of George A. Thomas founder and longtime owner of the George A. Thomas Drug Store. Funeral services set for 3:00 P M Sunday at First Baptist Church with Dr P A Corkern officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Surviving daughters Gertrude Triggs and Clara Thomas plus grandchildren and other relatives. Active pallbearers will be grandsons.

Earl Louis Baker Fatally Injured In Night Collision Near Cameron

Earl Louis Baker of Troy Texas died after colliding a Chevrolet pickup into the rear of a parked International truck on a bridge east of Cameron around 9 30 p m Saturday November 17. Baker worked for Wheeler Lumber Company of Temple. Tom West of Rockdale driver of the truck was injured but released from hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending with Hewitt Funeral Home Temple.

Pvt Odis Turner Stationed At Camp Roberts

Pvt Odis Turner of Cameron Texas is in infantry basic training with the 7th Armored Division at Camp Roberts California. November 24 marks the division’s first birthday since reactivation as an infantry unit. Camp Roberts lies midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, near the Pacific coast.

Reserved seats going fast for Friday's Cameron game

Local officials report about 1250 reserved seats available with 400 left unsold. Tickets sold to Lexington and nearby towns by mail and phone begin being filled today. General admission at 1.00, reserve seats 1.50, student 0.50. no parking inside stadium night of game. A 500 fan special train from Gonzales will run.

Churches Of Cameron Unite In Thanksgiving Services

Protestant churches in Cameron join in annual Union Thanksgiving service at the First Methodist Church on Wednesday November 28. Rev C P Robison of the Assembly of God will deliver the sermon on Expressions of Gratitude to God. Food baskets will be given to needy families. ministers from the Cameron Ministerial Association will participate. Last year the service was at the First Christian Church and the public is invited.

Dennis Klein Elected President Farm Bureau Milam County

At a Milam County Farm Bureau meeting Dennis Klein was elected president for the coming year. Robert Glenn was named second vice president and Mrs. Hugh Wimberly was re elected secretary. Directors and alternates from multiple communities were chosen and delegates departed for a state convention in Houston at the Rice Hotel scheduled to return Wednesday night.
