Rockdale faces growing charity needs after months of rain and hardship. Citizens are urged to form a coordinating committee under Mayor Meyer to raise cash and goods for a community chest. The Reporter praises local women and recalls Lee Clark as a model of service, urging readers to contribute.
Rainfall records kept by W. C. Marrs show about seventeen inches of rain in Rockdale since September and fourteen inches since October. A general rain began October 9 with three inches in thirty days of showers. Wet weather continued last week with about two and a half inches total and over an inch from Wednesday to Thursday noon.
The Rockdale area faces heavy cotton and fall feed losses as unsettled weather prevents harvests. Roads deteriorate, making the Rockdale-Thorndale route impassable and delaying trains like No. 5 by ten hours, signaling broader disruptions in the county.
