Painter at Pioneer Nabours Hanes In Court House
Interesting historic papers of the late Jeremiah Nabours, Milam county pioneer, are owned by his grandson, Homer Nabours, the current county clerk. The Nabours papers include his commission as county and district clerk signed by Governor E J Davis on January 3, 1873. Cameron was the sole voting box in Milam county during that era. A great niece, artist Martha Zoe Davis of Fort Worth, painted a portrait of her great uncle and gifted it to Homer Nabours, now in the county clerk’s office. Davis is the daughter of C M Davis of Fort Worth and sister of Homer Nabours and Mrs John House.
