No. 1 Butte opens new Milam County oil field
United Production Company drilled the No. 1 Butte three miles northeast of Milano in the Gililand Survey on a Batte lease. Tests indicate about 20 feet of Navarro C sand oil saturation between 2,675 and 2,704 feet, a first for Milam County. The discovery names the new field Pemberton Navarro C. Field, with plans for a second well, No. 2 Batte, and a long drilling campaign on a 7,200 acre block led by Wayne C. Pemberton.
