San Gabriel School Consolidates Rural Precincts

The Locklin and Ellison Ridge precincts join San Gabriel, making it among the county’s largest country schools. Voters approve a 6500 bond for a modern building. Consolidation gives San Gabriel a high school and access to a two million rural school appropriation. Several other schools remain untaken.

Slackers Barred from Crossing Borders Ahead of Draft

Army Letter From Cameron Boy Frank Sanders

Frank Sanders writes from Fort Barrancas Florida in May 1917 that he joined the coast artillery last December and enjoys army life though homesick. He describes target practice with large guns and future rifle practice while asking friends and his Sunday school class to write and pray for him. Rev and Mrs Sanders of Cameron are proud of their son awaiting his homecoming with honor.
