Missions' remains find new home in San Marcos
The tenth installment on the San Xavier Missions of Milam County recounts the 1754 1755 relocation from the San Xavier fort to San Marcos. Captain Pedro Rabago y Teran reported poor conditions at the fort and urged evacuation. By mid 1755 the missions and presidio moved, with soldiers missionaries and 40 converted Indians settling at San Marcos under provisional approval. Research cited is Kathleen Gilmore's 1969 master thesis.
