Swift Conviction Upheld In Hearne Slaying
Johnny Eduardo Swift of Hearne had his murder conviction and 101 year sentence affirmed by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin for the stabbing death of H. C. Kelly, a Hearne bank president, and the slayings of Mrs Kelly and their 19 year old daughter. The case dated to the May 17, 1972 killings. A Robertson County grand jury exclusion appeal was raised. A public meeting by Milam County Hill Country Community Action Association is set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday May 29 at the Cameron courthouse.

Signup Time Set For RECP Agreements
Signup time for the 1974 Rural Environmental Conservation Program RECP will be held May 28 through June 7 according to the local ASCS office. The program offers long term cost sharing for conservation practices over 3 to 10 years. Only landowners with control for the agreement period and approved Soil Conservation District Plans will be considered. Cameron's Mall Dedication Set For June 7
Invitations go to city and state officials for the official June 7 dedication of Cameron's mall, culmination of the city's urban renewal project. You Band Gets New Director
The Cameron band department will begin work this coming school term under Jerry Bartley who comes from Abernathy where he led bands for five years earning sweepstakes honors including a March award. Bartley aged 35 will reach his 15th year as a band director after earning a Texas Tech University percussion major and extra graduate hours. Yee High School plans a June 6 rehearsal at 7 p.m. to prep marching and music for the Folks event with summer rehearsal dates to follow.
