Union Head Raps Connally For Endorsement Seek
Texas AFL-CIO President Roy R Evans condemned State Senator Wayne Connally for seeking the unions political endorsement while criticizing Bill Hobby for accepting it. Evans denied any secret deal with Hobby and said COPE backed Hobby if he pledges to support the Democratic ticket in November. He warned Connally may be ineligible for labor support and noted Connally’s stance against Wallace and McGovern.
