Gause ISD winds down 2008 09 year events recap
The Gause area wraps the 2008 09 school year with activities across the district. Teachers receive lunch from the Parents Club, students participate in AR trips to Bryan and Cameron, Pre K and Kindergarten head to the Waco Zoo, and eighth graders plan trips to Austin. The junior high awards, eighth grade graduation set for May 28, and elementary awards on May 29 precede summer vacation. Milano High School graduates also scheduled for May 29 at 8 p.m. on Pruitt Field.

Stanley Lynch projection lifts hope for local GM line in Cameron
Russell says Stanley-Lynch from Page 1 may appeal the decision and plans to fight to keep the GM line. He notes GM sales have more than doubled in three years and vows to sell and service all GM products through October 2010. The Cameron dealership employs 20 locals and pays about 48,500 in sales taxes over two years, supporting community groups.

Water dispute looms as Post Oak weighs permit cancellations
Blue Water Systems owes $636000 in overdue production and transport permit fees after Cummings said the charges ensure groundwater contracts but are hard to manage without sale. Post Oak voted to hold a public hearing on canceling all permits issued to Blue Water on July 14.

City Council Eyes Traffic Signs and Grant Upgrades
The council took no action on the request to add at least one stop sign at the Washington and 21st streets intersection near Cameron Elementary Junior High due to limited visibility. Velma Moss urged signs for safety during school hours. Tow noted a ready final report from a recent TCEQ inspection and that fencing plan progress addresses many issues. remaining items were paperwork related. The city will receive about $17,000 from a Justice Assistance Grant for police antenna and cabling upgrades and three new video cameras. Milam County totals $66,000 in grant money shared among Cameron, Rockdale, and Thorndale police departments.

The Cameron History Club visited the Bell County Museum in Belton after a May luncheon at Stage Coach Inn Salado. Members viewed the Gov Miriam Amanda Ferguson collection and exhibits on pre Clovis peoples Fort Hood and the Chisholm Trail. Officers Betty French Ann Hensarling Joan Boecker and Pauline Friemel will lead the 2009 2010 year.

Drozd Strmiska Family Reunion Details and Next Meeting
The Drozd Strmiska families held a April reunion at Marak Parish Center with about 85 guests. A pot luck lunch followed a history read by Kathy Dunn. Generations gathered, prizes awarded, polkas heard, and the next reunion planned for 2011 in Taylor.
