Dancing School Annual Program Delights Local Audience

The Cameron School of Dance presented its annual show Saturday evening in the C. H. Yee Gymnasium. Scenes featured department store tableaux with costumes by Mrs. Freida McElwrath and teacher Martha S. Parkhurst guiding performers.

Mardi Gras Theme at Yee High Junior Senior Banquet Prom

Yee Highschool juniors and seniors closed the year with a Mardi Gras themed banquet and prom. Attendance reached 180 in Simon-George Hall with a decorated gym. Senior officers, Mr Petmecky president and Miss Grabein reporter, led events including invocation and a Mardi Gras floor show.

Kohutek Grocery Grand Opening At North Jackson Street

Cam eron's Kohutek Grocery celebrated a grand opening on North Jackson Street drawing hundreds of shoppers Friday and Saturday. Owners E L Kohutek thanked attendees and urged others to visit the new store. Eleven winners claimed free grocery baskets during the event.

Parking Meter Indictments Cleared In City Settlement

Cameron’s city docket clears indictments on parking meter violations after Histon H. Pruett settlement. Pruett paid 20.15 for two cases plus 15 one dollar fines totaling 55.30. The complaint filed April 26 by Roy Baskin, city attorney, notes the settlement and highlights upcoming stricter meter enforcement proposals.

Smallest Milam County Draft Group Since 1948

Milam County's Local Draft Board No 92 listed only twelve registrants for the April 18 age eighteen cohort under the Selective Service Act. Names include Jimmie Richards Cameron Thomas Beale Cameron Rudolph Tepera Cameron and others. August G Kunz urged all eligible youths to register promptly and noted grace periods for those who just discharge or overlooked their obligation.

Mrs. C. Meyer Funeral Rites Held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Otto Meyer 61 died May 14 were held Monday May 16 at 3 p m at Marek Burns Funeral Home governed by Rev Albert Michalik of Temple with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Survivors include Otto Meyer husband Alvin Meyer Cameron Dallas Orville Johnston plus relatives and one grandchild. Pallbearers included Bob Bailey Earl Angell and others.

Parents Urged To Bring Childs Birth Records For School

Ada Henderson Elementary and Ben Milam Primary urge first grade parents to file birth certificates and immunization records before school. Only 24 of about 100 expected first graders currently have all documents. proof of age and immunization are required. Knights of Columbus hold Texas convention in Houston

The 51st annual Texas State Knights of Columbus convention met in Houston May 10 11 with a Pontifical High Mass. A banquet featured Wm Burke and Bishop W J Noid while Reynaldo Garza led business sessions. Fourteen Texas boys were chosen for a two week Catholic Boys Camp in Kerrville including Charles Matula of Cameron.

Sharp High to Graduate 13 Seniors

Sharp High School will graduate 13 seniors in a commencement in the school auditorium on May 27. Don Mercer of Alcoa's Rockdale Works will deliver the address. Valedictorian Beverly Schwarz and salutatorian Joyce Walker lead the class, with top male student Lee Roy Kohring. A PTA reception follows. Baccalaureate speaker Rev. W. M.
