Milam-Areans Pool Hall Owner Charged After Gatesville Raid

A Friday night law enforcement raid on a Gatesville pool hall led to five charges against the owner. He faces three counts of selling beer in a dry area, one count of possession of beer for sale, and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Officers seized 73 beer cans, pills, and under two ounces of marijuana.

Dedication Set For New Aycock Center

The renovated Aycock School in Rockdale will be dedicated as a human services center on Sunday May 22 at 2 p.m. The Aycock Center houses seven agencies including Public Welfare Mental Health Center Central Texas Council on Alcoholism Manpower St Johns Day Care Center Texas Rehabilitation Commission and the Driver's License office. Special guests and dignitaries will attend with a 1 p.m. tour and a post ceremony open house. The project was led by the Rockdale Community Action Association with Hill Country Community Action and the Texas Department of Community Affairs funding and HEWs Rural Mental Health Grant. The center is at 505 South Baxter Street with Laura Petty as association chair.
