Miss Blanche Hensley, a popular Ada Henderson School faculty member, is reelected to teach eighth and ninth grade English at Yoe High School. Superintendent E A Perrin announced the move.
J. K. Freeman travels from Cameron to Dallas for eye surgery and plans to return within two weeks. Patrons of his loan business are asked to note his expected return date and wish him a successful, improved outcome.
Cameron Ice and Cold Storage Company announces a shift of broadcasts for the Ice Carnival of the Air from Thursday to Sunday nights at 8 30 p m. The program features music by the Southwest's outstanding musicians and a half hour of entertainment with a weekly ice refrigerator prize.
The Rev. J. P. Love and his wife have returned to Cameron from Rolexi Mississippi where they rested for several weeks. Rev. Love suffered a heart attack and has been recuperating at a famous resort. He will preach Sunday at Saints Episcopal church.
Monroe Corbin 11 dived into the lake at Wilson Ledbetter Park to save Clyde Copus Jr. 12 who had fallen into eight feet of water. Adults watched as Monroe grabbed Clyde by the hand and towed him ashore after Clyde went under a second time. Both boys attend school and Monroe is the son of Mr and Mrs Fred Corbin of Cameron.
Wallace Beery, a Cameron Theatre favorite, returns to the screen in West Point of the Air filmed at Randolph Field San Antonio. The May program also features Will Rogers in Life Begins at 40 with showings Sunday and Monday.
Will Rogers stars in Life Begins at 40 opening Sunday at the Camer on Theatre. The breezy Walter Pitkin inspired comedy promises a pandemonium of mirth as Rogers plays a country editor who learns to add a double kick to life. The film is hailed from other cities as a crowd pleasing high spot in his screen career.
In Alto a protest rises as a lone wolf figure clashes with the CWA and NRA. George B. Terrell, former Texas Agriculture Commissioner and Congressman at Large, defends his convictions and announces retirement, citing no space left for a Democrat in politics.
E C Cole private agent announces Cameron as the headquarters for a new Southern Pacific railway employees service club. A meeting is set for Thursday night at the school to organize and elect officers with two reels of talking pictures to be shown.
Delegates to the Knights of Columbus state convention have been announced by the Cameron council. The Taylor meeting is set for Tuesday and Wednesday May 2 and 22 with J C Andres and Rev. Tom O Sullivan of Burlington named as Cameron delegates.
Carl Henderson of Branchville was arrested by Sheriff R M Kennedy and turned over to Houston detectives on robbery charges in Harris County. Henderson linked to theft of a car from H N Maddox. a 1931 insanity adjudication is noted. A running gun fight with the sheriff near Hempstead and a car hijacking led to arrests and a buckshot wound in Brenham.
The Cameron School Board announces band and instrumental music become an affiliated subject with Francis Cox named band director and teacher of music. Cox vows no tuition after July 1 and says all pupils, including girls, may enroll. He will teach eight periods daily.
W T Hefley building, home to Cameron Milam Theatre, was purchased by Stanton E Dossett and Stanley H Swift. The theatre will stay in use while extensive renovations convert the site into a modern Cameron venue, the oldest playhouse dating from the New Hefley Theatre era.
W. R. Hoover, former Cameron Chamber of Commerce president and Gulf Refining official, left Cameron Monday for Mercedes in the Valley. He has been promoted within the company and will make his home in the Valley. The city regrets his departure after many years as a resident.

A number of government cattle payment vouchers remain unclaimed in the offices of George Banzhaf county agent. The checks are for cattlemen and the office urges owners to come in and collect them promptly.
John W Haygood, a prominent Masonic leader in Robertson county, has completed a gavel carved from red cedar from his ancestral home. The main body features cedar pigment plugs from Mount Lebanon wood, sent by Irvin Clarey of New York. The cedar’s heritage links to Lebanon’s historic forests and centennial exhibition plans.
Eight farmers left Milam County Sunday for Washington to attend a Capitol rally with thousands. Attendees include Geo Banzhai County Agent Geo T Graves D K Hall J C Freeman J P Baskin A J Smith H H Camp and Wright Ellison. They will carry Milam County farmers endorsements to President and Henry Wallace and expect to return next week.
Ad Hall community members gathered Monday night to hear a discussion of the regional credit bank financing crop production. The Ryan bank has financed over $100,000 in county crop loans at 4 percent interest. Mr Parnell spoke on leather tanning methods and displayed samples.
Cantaloupe growers in the Cameron area are urged to attend a meeting in the county courthouse court room on Monday night May 20 at 8 o clock. Secretary W F Paden of the Chamber of Commerce announces the gathering to advance cantaloupe interests.
