Buckholts Forms Street Maintenance Division

The Buckholts city council voted to establish a street maintenance division and heard a progress report on the sewer system. The city previously relied on Milam County for street work but will seek contracts rather than hire staff. Budget planning follows July 1 with bids possible after January 1, 1977.

Oil production in Texas declines again in 1975

Texas produced just over 1.2 billion barrels in 1975, the lowest since 1971, while Milam County reached 7,000,745 barrels to end the year. Texas accounted for 40 percent of U.S. output despite the continuing decline and calls to end federal price controls. An electrical fire at 208 E 15 St caused no injuries.

Valedictorian Sheryl Rubac, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Denson Rubac, achieved a 94.26 four year GPA and led FHA, athletics, Student Council and pep squad. Salutatorian Susan McNeill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. McNeill, had an 89.95 GPA and held FHA president post, participated in UIL contests, sports, and Student Council.
