Nathan Calchen Dies in Kansas City
Nathan Calchen aged 53 died at his Kansas City home at 11 o clock Monday night May 4 1931 after several weeks illness. He was a brother of Max Collings of Cameron and a native of Russia who came to America as a young man. He worked in tailoring in Kansas City and was not known in Cameron. Friends in Cameron extend sympathy to Mr Collins in his bereavement.

Mr and Mrs Lee Sens of Baltimore are in Cameron this week visiting in the home of Mrs Chas Sens. Mr Sens is superintendent for three cotton mills of the Mr Vernon Woodberry Mills company. They will leave Saturday for Alabama and South Carolina to inspect mills. They also visited in San Antonio with their mother.

Miss Minnie Bartholomew Home Demonstration Agent of Milam County rushed to Louis to tend her brother Ollie Bartholomew fatally ill with pneumonia. He died Monday night in Franklin where his funeral was held Wednesday at 4 30 p m at the Baptist church. Burial was in Franklin cemetery. He was single and well regarded. Attending were Miss Blanche Hensley Miss Winnie Henderson Mrs W R Newton Judge Jeff T Kemp and George Banzhaf.

Rosebud Man Slain On Davilla Road
In Belton on May 6 Raymond Hilliard a Rosebud baker was shot and killed on a lonely Davilla road six miles east of Bartlett around 2 30 pm. Robert Hale a Rosebud laborer was jailed on murder charges. Andrew Kelly also of Davilla rode with the men. The shooting occurred as Hilliard sat at the wheel of the roadster with Kelly in the car. A .38 revolver bullet entered his right eye and exited the head. Kelly said they had been to oil fields seeking work and returned from Center Tuesday night and spent the night at his Davilla home.

Miss Adaling Roberson itinerant nurse of the State Department of Health arrived May 1 to conduct a health program for the colored population of the county. She met the Cameron colored high school committee and outlined plans for May. A club of adult ladies will pursue home nursing and receive certificates after completion. North of 36 story for Conquering Horde at Milam
The novel North of 36 by Eme on Hough inspired the film Thundering Horde booked by Stanley Swift at Milam Theatre for May 7 and 8.
