Williamson County Cyclone Leaves Heavy Damage and Casualties
A cyclone near Kimbrough and Hutto in Williamson County Monday night caused multiple deaths and extensive damage. Two people died at Kimbrough and one at Hutto, with unlisted identifications. Reports of Thorndale and Taylor deaths were denied. The Little River watershed overflowed with heavy rain, threatening record flood levels since 1921. Elm Creek rose high and over 5 inches of rain drenched the area, compounding flood conditions into Tuesday.

Lieut Winfred A Russell United States Army Air Corps pilot of a 3 24 Liberator bomber was killed in action in Italy on April 5 1944. Telegram from the War Department to his parents in Yarrellton notes he served three years and was killed in defense of his country. His brother Sgt LeRoy Russell serves in India with the Army Air Corps. He is survived by parents two sisters and one brother and two sisters Mrs Roberts Yancey of Abilene and Mrs Gilbert Gallatin of Yarrellton.

Little River Flood Crest Reaches 36 Feet
Flood crest in Little River climbed to 36 feet early Wednesday, two feet above the Tuesday 8 p.m. reading. By noon, waters had fallen about 6 inches yet Highway 77 remained blocked east of the city and Southern Pacific service between Cameron and Waco stayed out. Trains were rerouted via the Santa Fe.

Twice Interrupted Electric Service Restored After Wind Damage
Electric service, interrupted twice during the night and morning, was restored shortly after noon Monday. West city areas were dark after storm winds blew down poles and damaged wires. power shut off at 11 am and later resumed after crews fought through the elements. Texas Power and Light Company manager J. Albert Young reported greater damage than from the recent ice storm.

Brazos Floods Bottom Lands Near Hearne Readings Reach High
The Brazos River overflowed its banks near Cause at Valley Junction close to Hearne at 2 p.m. The gauge showed 49 feet, the highest since 1940, with Little River at 36.5 falling. Rain totals reached 2.06 inches in Cameron. 1921 saw severe floods and loss of life in the county.

State Mass Meeting at Cameron Spiritualist Church
A state mass meeting of the Spiritualist church is set for Sunday May 7 at the First Spiritualist Church in Cameron. Morning service at 10 20 lunch at 12 30 afternoon services at 2 30 and 8 30 evening with prominent speakers from across the state. Missing Army air corps sergeant Harris reported MIA
Staff Sgt. D D Harris of the United States Army Air Corps is listed as missing in action in the African theatre. A War Department telegram says he has been missing since April 20. He previously lived in Cameron and visited his parents there in early April. He worked as a supervising mechanic on the P 38 and was not accustomed to flying. His wife and child are in California and Wellington Texas.
