The 1933 tax roll shows a $4,134,308.00 drop from 1913 taxable values, a 21 percent decline since 1913. State and county levies for 1933 were 20 percent higher than 1913. Delinquent collections reached about 28.78 percent with $89,326.57 unpaid as of March 1, 1934, and estimated 21 percent delinquency by July 1, 1934. prior years 1930–1932 show $1,136,209.92 total roll with $117,483.33 unpaid.
Mrs Nick Barranco of Beaumont Texas describes suffering pains in the side and nervous unrest. She took seven bottles of Cardus after her mother’s suggestion and reports the pain stopped and general health improved. Cardus has been sold in drug stores for over 50 years.
Texas Power and Light officials urge parents to warn children about kite flying near electric wires. Do not climb poles to remove entangled kites and avoid wet strings in rain. Metal or wire braced kites are unsafe and several fatal accidents have occurred this spring.
A warning notes that flying kites near electric lines risks a wire contacting a live line and a current could flash to the person holding the kite, posing serious danger.
