Joel B. Casey, a longtime Hubert Hefley Motor Company salesman since 1928 with one gap during model changes, is praised as one of Milam County’s best. The firm emphasizes growth, a new building, and a large parts department stocking thousands of Ford items including the still-operational Model T.
A detailed description of the Greater Hefley Motor Company building notes reinforced concrete brick and tile construction with steel ceilings. It fronts two blocks with two entrances and provides 12432 total square feet including 6032 new building area and 6400 original area. The facility accommodates a Ford service plant auto laundry paint shop used car display and separate parts and tire departments. A new car showroom spans 1920 square feet.
The Ford design combines pump splash and gravity feed for a new four cylinder engine. Oil pump sits in crankcase bottom, filtered in a mesh screen, then sent to the valve chamber for gravity feed to crankshaft bearings and camshaft areas. Reservoirs built into the chamber ensure steady lubrication as oil flows through three dams.
