In the first game Yoe held off a late Belton threat to win 9 8 as Cameron started scoring with two runs. Belton led 3 2 in the third on Jay Warrick's double, then Harlow hit a two run homer to 280 feet. The Yoemen answered with a 5th inning surge and final 9 8 win with Kopriva and Mondrik delivering key hits. In the second game Yoe exploded with 11 runs to Belton’s 5, reversing a 5th inning deficit and pulling ahead for a commanding victory. Gene Kopriva and Steger homered, powering the Yoemen to a 9 4 lead after half the twinbill.
Franklin officials announce April 5-6 as the date for the Oak Grove Country Club fifth annual Blind Bogey Tournament near Franklin on Farm Road 46. Open to all amateurs, the event draws 200 plus Central Texas golfers with four flights and extensive prizes including irons woods bags and a rifle. Registration is $10 and covers lunch barbecue and access to all prizes.
The Yoe High All Sports Banquet is set for Monday May 5 1975 to honor all athletic teams and players. Guest speaker is Mr Bob Wright of Texas A&M University in charge of recruiting and public relations. The event at Methodist Fellowship Hall starts 7 30 PM with tickets at 3 00. Football Sweetheart and Booster Club trophy to be awarded.
Yoe junior varsity beat Killeen EIleen JV 10 to 6 as Gary Hornung hit a three run homer. Hornung earned the win in relief of Carl Bradley as Paul Smith sparked Killeen with two doubles driving in four runs.
Rockdale Country Club hosts the 12th annual 18 hole Spring Blind-Bogey Golf Tournament with over 200 entrants. Entry is $10, prizes total more than $1,500 in pro merchandise, top prize irons, runner-up woods. Tee times 7 am to 1 pm, players may choose either day. call 446-7753 to reserve.
