Superintendent T A Fisher returns from the National Education Association gathering in Boston, where about 10 000 attended. Texas sent 100 delegates by special train and others via different routes. Speakers included leaders from Harvard Yale and Brown, with emphasis on high school education and citizenship.

The Presbyterian church in Cameron held a well attended homecoming service on Sunday March 4 in the new church building dedicated that day. Rev. Ketonen Injured Forfeit Allows Karhunsaari Victory

In Cameron Ketonen the world middleweight champion was injured in the first fall and could not return to the mat, forfeiting to Finn Henry Karhunsaari who now lays claim to the title. Ketonen leaves Cameron and will not wrestle here again this season. The match followed a rough night with cautions for slugging and a 55 minute first fall.

First National Bank assets exceed one million in Cameron

The Herald carries a statement by Fred B. Cable showing total resources of 1,202,895.87 and deposits of 032,585.67 for the First National Bank. The bank merged with the Texas State Bank and Trust Company to form a strong, old Milam county institution in good financial condition.

Four Die in Grade Crossing Crash in Bellville Texas

Four people including two children were killed at 4 14 pm in a crossing collision between a coupe and a Santa Fe extra on the Houston Hempstead highway near Sanders crossing. Victims include Mrs Charles E Brown and Myrnee Sanders Jeanette Kreuger and Hattie McDonald. Mrs Brown was cousin to L F Gohmert of Cameron. The community mourns the loss of Mrs Gohmert as funeral plans are reported.
