Fires 32 Shots Now Faces Felony Charge

Fred Greenhill is jailed in Milam county charged with assault with intent to murder his father in law W L Willingham after firing 32 shots from a 32 caliber rifle at the wounded man who fled the house. Willingham was struck once and treated at a hospital in Marlin while Greenhill remained in Cameron county jail.

Cattle men from Milam Brazos Burleson and Robertson counties met in Hearne Friday night to form a mutual protection group. Afred Wohlleb Sr buried in Cameron

Alfred Wohlleb Sr a 70 year old Cameron resident died at his home on Tuesday February 28 after a months long illness. Born in Cincinnati Ohio he moved to Texas as a boy with his parents the Wohlleb family prominent in Cameron history. He was a leading farmer and earlier worked with his father in business. Funeral services were held at Coleman funeral home chapel with Rev. O C Acrey delivering the eulogy.

Plans Set for Chamber of Commerce Banquet

Preparations for the Chamber of Commerce banquet on March 14 proceed at Rockdale High School Gym. About one hundred tickets have been issued to business leaders and local friends. Miss Miller and Miss Lichte of Home Making department present a menu featuring dressing roast turkey giblet gravy green beans cranberry sauce slaw rolls and apple pie with whipped cream.

Mrs P H McKinney Dies at Jones Prairie Pioneer Mother

Mrs. P H McKinney 80 of Jones Prairie and mother of Mrs. J D Baskin of Cameron died at 4 20 p m Tuesday at the family home. She was the last charter member of Little River Baptist church organized in 1849. Funeral services were held at Little River Baptist Church with Rev Vernon G Miles officiating and were directed by Green Funeral Home of Cameron. Survived by two sons Hugh and P Y H McKinney Jr a daughter Mrs Pearl McNeil and another daughter Miss Edna McKinney and Mrs J D Baskin of Cameron. Pallbearers included H V Harlan A R McLerran Roy Baskin Carlton Crook George Roden and P H Lave.

Yarrellton Pioneer Dies From Self Inflicted Gunshot

George Logk 71 a Yarrellton resident died from a gunshot wound to the head in his daughter Mrs Pearl Hopper's home. Oletta Hopper 14 was injured when a shotgun discharged while relatives tried to take the weapon away. Lock later killed himself after firing another shell. Funeral services were held at Yarrellton Baptist Church and burial followed at the Marak Methodist cemetery with Masonic rites. He is survived by several children and grandchildren.

Former Convict Held for Shop Lifting in Cameron

F. D. Hardy an ex federal convict released from Leavenworth prison in 1935 is held in Cameron jail on shop lifting charges after deputies Dan Gunn and B F Bailey arrested him Saturday afternoon for stealing two belts from J C Penney. Fingerprints were sent to Washington for identification.

Pioneer G W Gunn Dies in Thorndale Home

G W Gunn died at his Thorndale residence on Tuesday after a lengthy residence in the community. Funeral services were held at the home and the body was buried in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
