A Milam County piece urges teaching fundamental government principles to youths and stresses voter responsibility. It condemns self serving politicians and calls for officials to serve the public interest with integrity, likening scandal to Caesar's wife and stressing accountability.
At Knights of Pythias Hall on Monday six candidates received the rank of Knight as W L Wilson presided. Guests included P L Downs of Temple Chamblis Gresham Wayland C Fra zier and others. The event followed with sandwiches ice cream and soda water. Home Demonstration Clubs in Milam County prepare to send delegations to Cameron for Rally Day June 28 with a center tour of Curry Home Demonstration Club and talks by Mrs Jesse Coward Mrs John House and others. Plans include a Centennial themed program and an address by C M Martin. J Frank Dobie was sought but unavailable for the Friday date.
A Milam County Medical Auxiliary was organized with Rose Rischar as president and officers named. District 12 auxiliaries plan a July 9 meeting here, as Temple representatives including Mrs Moon and three other doctors wives attended the founding event.
Interment for 34 year old Mrs. Chas. Price of Waco took place Friday at 1 p.m. in Oak Hill cemetery Cameron with Rev. N. D. Timmerman officiating. She died in Waco after a brief illness and taught in Waco Junior High and Temple prior to Baylor graduate. She is survived by her husband, her mother Mrs. Montgomery and sister Mrs. Webb Childers of Waco.
Beginning on Sunday June 30 vesper services will be held at the Presbyterian church each Sunday evening during the summer. The services start at 6 p.m. and end at 6:40 p.m. Rev C Acrey announces music and a Bible lesson as the program.
Four drunk driving cases heard in Thorndale Monday before Milam County prosecutor Emory Camp. Howard Harrison Moody Harrison Oliver Locklin and Jesse Berry bound over to the grand jury under $500 bonds each.
Minerva colored school took 9th place in a statewide 1934 1935 improvement and beautification contest with 1115 points of 1200. J L Burke teaches at Minerva while Curry and Davilla also entered from the county along with Milam County’s 37 negro schools and 66 negro teachers.
Officials reflect the standards set by voters and must be expelled if worse. The electorate bears blame for seeking special favors and public reform starts with righteous anger and action by the people.
The Otto Smith Store near the Southern Pacific Station will formally open Saturday. The brick, modern building was completed recently by Mr. Smith, with special prices to welcome customers. Smith has long operated a successful grocery and market, and the new store will improve service to the community.
The State Department of Education approves two year affiliation for Cameron High School band music under Francis Cox. Music earns graduation and college credit. Cox becomes full time music director with salary via City Council and school board. A separate note reports a barbecue at Wilson Ledbetter Park with Cameron fire boys racing team and guests.
A parish supper in Burlington will be held next Sunday after a misprint. The event, hosted by St Michael Catholic Parish, includes entertainment and a 5 pm serving time with proceeds to St Michael School. Burlington will play Cameron in the afternoon as part of the day’s events.
Pleasant Hill holds its third annual Homecoming on Sunday July 14 with morning address and afternoon program. A large crowd is expected and a noon meal will be served under trees with ample ice water. Joe Barber serves as secretary inviting friends from nearby communities.
Mra D Burke Mina Genevieve Burke and Mre L A Patillo with Roy visited Gause. Thursday Beatrice Walchakha returned from Ft Worth. J T Robinson Dudley Colwell Josephine Barber and Shade Turner went to New Orleans. Cecil Criswell Mitcham Eunice and Virginia Ezzell shopped in Waco. Alex Groppell and daughter Bobby Jean visited A H Judkins.

Miss Gwayne Shipp married Gene Knipp in a small Thursday ceremony at the bride’s mother Alma Shipp home. Rev J Coy Williams officiated as marigold and asparagus décor adorned the rooms. The couple, both Cameron residents, plan a Galveston Houston honeymoon after Knipp’s local employment.
